HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The Full Story
Mark Robson
Circa 1981
Born and raised in the Tyne Valley in Northumberland, I have lived my life both in towns and in the countryside and rolling hills. I’m now happily settled with my wife and children in Prudhoe.
I studied art and graphic design at school and always felt a warm calling towards the camera.
Completely self taught photography, I see the world differently.
I am forever finding myself becoming more and more rhapsodised with photography. I never want to be someone who takes predictable, boring photographs. To combat this, I ask myself after every photo: “is this good enough for a gallery, a museum, a photo book? If so, I’m happy. I’m always looking to create timeless images; classic photographs.”
I love to shoot black and white and equally in colour. I notice the beauty in ordinary things. My favorite photography subjects are cars, bikes, objects, industrial and anything that appears old, forgotten, empty, alone, quiet and imperfect. Although I’m often drawn in to taking photos of the natural world.
My tools of the trade are minimal. As well as my trusty camera, I use something most people carry around all the time. My iPhone. With the up and coming emergence of the iPhone photographer, I have made it my passion to take this art form to its furthest point. I’m always learning new techniques, hints and tips and love to share these to enhance others iPhone photography experiences.
I find nothing better than applying timeless principles of great photography to capture your images.
